About Us

Jerry Winn M.S., LCDC, ADC, SAP, ACPS

My name is Gerald “Jerry” Winn and I have been lucky enough to find a beautiful and spiritual lady to share my life with. We have been married since May of 2010 and we share the incredible privilege and responsibilities of raising our family together. We value family and work hard as a team to motivate and encourage our children to live healthy, happy, and productive lives.

I graduated Texas A&M with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics (AGEC) in 1995. Becoming successful was fairly easy - hard work, dedication, commitment, and a little initiative. It was at this time I began to misuse and abuse drugs, eventually leading to drug dependency issues of my own. I spent 9 months and 3 weeks at SAFPF, a TDCJ facility run by the Gateway Foundation. It was during this time that I realized a passion for helping others struggling with their own Alcohol and Drug issues. This, and the fact I chose to get into the counseling field because I had some really wonderful counselors who made a positive impact in my own life.

Since then, I have pursued and earned a Master’s in Addiction Counseling and I am a LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor). I also hold an ADC (Alcohol and Drug Counselor) and an ACPS (Advanced Certified Prevention Specialist), both are certifications by TCBAP (Texas Credentialing Board of Addiction Professionals). I am also a DOT SAP (Department of Transportation Substance Abuse Professional).

I worked 3.5 years teaching life skills to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders in the Aldine ISD. Most recently, I spent 2.5 years working at a men's intensive residential facility in Houston, Texas. My work has focused on men who struggled with substance dependency and often, mental health issues. I have extensive, first-hand knowledge of treatment centers and how they work. My counseling approach is heavily influenced by CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). My one true concern is that I make a positive and healthy difference in the lives of those with whom I work.

Nancy Winn - Intensive Outpatient Counselor

Nancy brings to Third Day Treatment Center years of experience in business administration, along with credentials in prevention and chemical dependency counseling.

After ten years in the private sector, Nancy decided to make a career change to work in the nonprofit field.  She brought her administrative skills to Phoenix House Texas as an administrative assistant working with the program director on contracts, credentialing, business management, and coordinating services, trainings and community events.

As she saw the organization’s work in the community, she developed a passion for the field of addiction and its mission to reclaim disordered lives. With the encouragement of her former director, she decided to pursue her own credentials in counseling. Nancy studied prevention and chemical dependency at the Institute of Chemical Dependency Studies and is now a Certified Prevention Specialist and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern.

She first gained experience working with adolescent students at Houston ISD and Aldine ISD, where she taught Towards No Drug Abuse and Botvin Life Skills curricula to students, parents, families, adjudicated adolescents, and others. “I started with prevention,” Nancy says. “I liked the idea of getting to kids before they started living unhealthy lifestyles, and providing them the skills of making healthy lifestyles choices instead.”

For three years, she served as co-leader with the Coalition of Behavioral Health Service and Phoenix House, recruiting community leaders, stake holders and business leaders to work together on a grant to reduce underage drinking in the Montgomery County and North Houston area.

During her internship for her license in chemical dependency counseling, she worked with Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (ACRA) a federally-funded pilot program run by Sam Houston University in collaboration with Phoenix House.  The pilot program required counselors to schedule sessions in the homes of adolescent client and involved the client, siblings, and the parent or guardian for the most effective treatment.

Nancy is a member of NAMI Brazos Valley and is certified to provide NAMI Basic Trainings to

Nancy currently works as an adult Intensive Outpatient Counselor with Third Day Treatment Center and provides community services to the Brazos Valley. She enjoys seeing clients stabilize,  become empowered, and make positive changes in their lives.
